Dr. Stratford, was born in Biloxi, Mississippi where his father served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated magna cum laude with university honors from Brigham Young University with a degree in Business Management.
Dr. Stratford graduated from medical school at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. During medical school, Dr. Stratford obtained a master’s degree in business administration at The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business where he graduated magna cum laude and with university honors. He also studied health care administration and policy and was awarded a certificate from The University of Chicago Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy.
Dr. Stratford and his family moved to San Diego where he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The University of California, San Diego. After completing residency, Dr. Stratford chose to pursue additional training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
As a fellow at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, Dr. Stratford worked alongside Dr. Bob Shull, a world renowned surgeon and one of the fathers of the field. Upon completion of fellowship, Dr. Stratford and his family came to Arizona were he created a specialty center focused on treating and researching pelvic floor dysfunction called The Woman’s Center for Advanced Pelvic Surgery.
Dr. Stratford serves in many positions in local, national and international medical organizations promoting women’s health, including having served on the Board of Directors of the American Urogynecologic Society and as the President of the Maricopa County Medical Society. He is a Clinical Professor for University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and teaches residents full time. He enjoys teaching and is an active participant in medical education. He speaks at many community functions and national workshops teaching about pelvic floor disorders and is well respected by his peers. He is an advocate for women’s health and plays an active role in increasing awareness of female pelvic floor disorders.
His greatest happiness comes from spending time with his active family of five children and wonderful wife, Emily.
